Cartref was founded in 1949 and incorporates 2 care homes at Lake Road East, Cardiff and Station Road, Llanishen, Cardiff. 

Cartref is a ‘not for profit’ Charity governed by a Voluntary Board of Trustees providing professional care within a family atmosphere.

The General Manager and the Registered home Managers along with and experienced management team oversee the day to day running of the homes

We offer permanent long term and short term respite placements on a residential basis.  We are structured to enable us to work closely with local authorities and voluntary organisations in the most effective way possible

Cartref believe a person’s care should be at the centre of everything we do, meeting the differing choices and preferences of each individual.  We also believe residents have a role in shaping the heart of the communities into a place where people want to live.

Our compassionate team have the skills to deliver support to residents with complex needs including those with dementia.  Our aim is to provide the best possible environment in which people can maintain their independence, a quality of life and standard of living enabling them to live their life to the full.

Help and companionship is always on hand and the friendly and homely atmosphere we have created throughout Cartref ensures that everyone continues their daily life with personal privacy and dignity.

Both our homes are situated in a residential suburb of Cardiff and are on local bus routes with shops close at hand. The properties are older Victorian houses adapted specifically to provide residential care for 85 residents.  The homes have security systems and response alarms for the benefit of peace of mind.
